I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is Scott Graham and I live in Minneapolis, MN. I am 63 years old and I have always carried extra weight, since childhood. In the 1980s I was into road bike racing and triathalons. I worked out a lot. At that time I was healthy but still not skinny.

In 1992 I moved from Denver to Minneapolis and began my career in earnest. As a sales rep I spent a lot of time in my car. Since I worked in the bicycle inductry I stayed reasonably fit, but I drank and ate what I wanted and that was reflected in my appearance and health. I transitioned to real estate in 1998. As a serial remodeler I have always been physically active. I continued to ride bikes and do lots of active things, but nobody would have called me an althlete. The early millenial years were incredibly productive for me professionally. I was a landlord, a rehabber and a very busy realtor. People know me as very social, generally a drink in hand, and always up for a good time.

The economic downturn of 2009-2010 hit me hard. My business suffered, my mental health suffered, and I managed to come through intact. I morphed my real estate business into a property management company in order to scratch out a living. Thankfully my wife (since 1992!) has had the same corporate job since 1997, so I had insurance and a lifeline. My body shape hasn’t really changed much over the years. My weight has gone up and down. I have done various intense diets generally zero carb style. They work, and then you gain the weight back.

Covid was a crusher. Devastating for me. I didn’t really realize it at the time. I had been going to an interval training gym and was in as good a shape as I had ever been in, taking my age into account. I weighed around 185 and was pretty muscular. I was never invited to be on anyone’s calendar shoot though. Just a fit 58 year old. During covid I quit working out 100%, unless you count wine and pizza. I really developed some skills in those areas. As I transitioned into my 60s and covid, I kind of resigned myself. Kind of globally. At 60 it stikes me that if you haven’t accomplished the big things in life you might not accomplish them ever. I don’t have a list of anything. But, I was fine not working out.

The picture you see on the right was taken in late 2024 in Dundee Oregon at a winery. Seems fitting, though not so much that sweater.
